Jigawa LG Bans Sex Workers, Night Clubs, beer parlours

The LG has given sex workers 30 days to leave the area or, if they are indigenes of the area, to present suitors for marriage.

The Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State has given commercial sex workers 30 days to leave the area.

However, if they are indigenes of the area, they must within the ultimatum present their suitors to the council to sponsor their wedding.

The chairperson of the council, Zaharadden Abubakar, announced this on Friday when he received a delegation from Sara community, a weekly market, in his office.

Mr Abubakar decried the activities of commercial sex workers in the market.

He also directed the immediate closure of night clubs and beer parlours across the local government area.

Mr Abubakar said the decision was meant to purify the council area by tackling immorality.

He said the local government will marry off the indigenous commercial sex workers and pay the wedding expenses.

The council boss said the police and other security agencies would be directed to enforce his orders and prosecute defaulters.

Sex work is illegal in many states in Nigeria but is commonplace across the country.

Many public officials, particularly in northern Nigeria including the Nigerian capital Abuja, have repeatedly tried to clamp down on the trade; a move activists say is a violation of the rights of the women.

Japanese-developed anti-influenza drug, Favipiravir, has been endorsed by China’s health leadership as an anti-viral drug for Coronavirus.

During a conference in Beijing on Tuesday, Zhang said the medicine worked for coronavirus-related symptoms including pneumonia and had no obvious side effects.

“It has a high degree of safety and is clearly effective in treatment,” Zhang told reporters.

Patients who were given the medicine in Shenzhen turned negative for the virus after four days of therapy, compared with a median of 11 days for those who were not treated with the drug, public broadcaster NHK said.

In addition, X-rays confirmed improvements in lung condition in about 91% of the patients who were treated with favipiravir, compared to 62% or those without the drug.

The director said he formally recommended the use of this medicine as a way to treat the COVID-19 disease, which is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

According to Zhang, a Chinese pharmaceutical company has been approved by the National Medical Products Administration to mass-produce the medication and ensure a stable supply

Adam Castillejo from London has become the second person in world to be cured of HIV according to doctors.

Adam Castillejo is free of the virus 30 months after he stopped his anti-retroviral therapy.

He was not cured from HIV medicine though, but from stem cell treatment of cancer he also has.

The stem cell was donated to him by people with uncommon gene which gives them protection against HIV.

In 2011, the first patient, Timothy Brown who was is tagged “Berlin patent” got his own cure three and half years after after passing through thesame treatment.

What is the treatment?
The way it works is the stem cell transplants stops the virus from increasing in the body. It changes the patient immune cells with the donor that can resist the virus.

Castillejo has stayed without any active HIV infection in his blood semen or tissue after two and half years, which expert Prof Ravindra Kumar Gupta calls” HIV cure with almost certainty which shows the same treatment that worked for Brown Nine years ago is truly genuine.

People with the Gene that HIV cannot penetrate their cells are few,but researchers are targeting that cell for people with HIV.

Is it Permanent cure?

Well, one cannot say its a permanent cure for now Castillejo and Brown still has the virus in their body but it’s not active because the donor cells has not fully take over the patients body.

And its not possible to say with 100% that the HIV will not come up again.
